Personalized bi-comfort

When designing Somnium mattresses, we considered a few issues that are often disregarded. In some couples with differing body structures or diverging preferences, a person may prefer to sleep on a mattress of different comfort level than their partner. Other couples appreciate the comfort and elegance of a queen size bed combined with the convenience of two twin mattresses for manageability, i.e. periodically flipping the mattress – as recommended in the manual – removing the cover to wash it, move the mattress to clean under the bed, etc. In other cases, some people would simply like the flexibility to adjust the firmness over time according to external contingencies (health, season, etc.). Many Somnium mattresses with removable covers meet these needs.

In some of our products with latex or Aquapure cores, it’s possible to flip only one half of the double mattress allowing each person to independently address their own needs. Obviously single beds also have the same feature and the level of firmness can be changed simply by flipping the internal structure to the other side.Thanks to this solution, all maintenance operations mentioned above can be handled more easily, handling two single beds instead of a single larger mattress. In some products with pocketed spring cores, both single and double, it is possible to flip the internal structure of the mattress to achieve different levels of firmness. Of course, regardless of the configuration of the internal structure, the user can stay with their choice for the surface material that comes in contact with the body. It’s also possible to further customize the bed system by choosing the right bed base. Some of our bases operate on special firmness regulators and/or independent three-dimensional dampers inserted to maximize the comfort of the system.
